We recently had the good fortune to spend some time at the Main Street Inn and Bistro in Highlands, North Carolina. To say we enjoyed our visit would be like saying Tail of the Dragon has some turns. This is one fantastic place to stay if you enjoy motorcycle rides on the backroads of the Smoky Mountains.

Comfortable Accomodations for a Motorcycle Vacation You'll Never Forget

The tasteful and pleasant decor of the accomodations at the Main Street Inn will make you comfortable returning in your leathers from one of the many outstanding nearby rides, or heading down dressed for perfect evening of dining and relaxation around town.

Whether it's breakfast lunch or dinner the staff at the Main Street Inn is ready to make your meal and stay a top notch experience.

What's the Difference Between a Bed and Breakfast and an Inn?

During our stay we learned that there is an important difference between an inn and bead and breakfast. An inn like the Main Street Inn provides dining for both guests and visitors, while a bed and breakfast provides meals only to their overnight guests. So even if you're not staying at the Main Street Inn you can enjoy a superb meal at an affordable price.

We stayed in room 4 at the inn. The room was absolutely beautiful with stunning hardwood floors, a balcony and antique furniture. The lighting and decor in our room and throughout the inn was elegant and created a comfortable and very livable atmosphere.
The room had a sitting area with a desk and loveset. The double doors on the left open to the full bath with cast iron tub and separate shower. The desk holds a television (I don't think we ever got to the point we watched it) and was a great place to review maps, check email on the inn's wireless internet and get a few work issues handled.
The antique vanity with sink in our room. Everything about the room made us comfortable. Plenty elegant enough to be special and friendly enough to make you feel at home.
The stairway down to the lounge and restaurant area on the first floor. All the hardwoods in this beautiful old building are superbly finished and add a wonderful depth of character to the inn.
We had the chance to check out several other rooms in the main inn building. This is the sleeping area of room five. Each room has a distinct character and feel to it and every one of them would be a pleasure to stay in.
